Our Founder

Samuel Thyr, founder of Note Value, is an Oxford graduate in Music and Musicology with a passion for education and performance. A former clerk of the Magdalen College Choir, he is a professional freelance choral singer, percussionist, and drummer. Samuel has taken part in key Oxford traditions, including singing atop the Magdalen Great Tower on May Morning and performing for university sermons in colleges and the University Church of St Mary the Virgin. Combining academic expertise, evidence-based teaching, and a deep love for his city, Samuel creates inspiring, personalised musical and educational experiences.
